Hello everyone! What a year it has been for the Bluewater Wood Alliance and its members! The wood industry in Ontario is nimble and adaptable to change. The BWA pivoted quickly to adapt to the lockdown to engage the industry virtually. From March 30th – July 15th, the BWA conducted 9 virtual COVID-19 related events to educate our members on the emerging pandemic and due diligence for our members. In addition, the government has eased restrictions on select retail operations and expanded the list of essential construction projects. Government introduces Canada Emergency Response Benefit to help workers and businesses From: Department of Finance Canada Originally Posted March 25th, 2020 To support workers and help businesses keep their employees, the government has proposed legislation to establish the Canada Emergency Response Benefit (CERB). This taxable benefit would provide $2,000 a month for up to four months for workers who lose their income as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The CERB would be a simpler and more accessible combination of the previously announced Emergency Care Benefit and Emergency Support Benefit. Click here to read more.
