This is a value-packed event and you don’t want to miss this!

  1. US Export/Import and NAFTA Implications: Exporters to the USA, and those interested in pursuing it, are dealing with uncertainty and a complex customs system. Mike Miller, V.P. of Northern Border Operations for Cole International coleintl.com will provide insight on the following current NAFTA implications and what companies need to consider when exporting to the USA:
    • Potential impact on raw materials that we import from the USA: (hardwoods, etc). Could our supply costs be affected? What should we do to mitigate risk?
    • Potential impact on finished goods and products we export to the USA. Currently no tariffs on value-added, but how can we prepare?
    • Border Brokerage Process: What does a company need to understand regarding the logistics of the border process for goods? Are there NAFTA implications to change the existing process? For companies new to exporting or considering it, what do they need to know regarding the logistics?
  2. Colour Trends Now for Wood Product Manufacturers: Whether you manufacture cabinetry, commercial fixtures, or furniture, current design colour trends dictate what we as wood manufacturers need to be aware of as we chose colours for customers to select when ordering our products. Rodney McFalls is a USA based expert on colour trends. He is closely tied to the International Furniture Market held in High Point, North Carolina, Neocon; and an active member of the Color Marketing Group, (the Premier Association for Color Forecasting Professionals). Currently working with CCI Finishworks, Rodney will share the latest trends with BWA members.
  3. Bill 142 – the Construction Lien Amendment Act: New rules have been enacted to ensure prompt payment timelines for contractors and sub-contractors in our industry. This will impact many of our members in their respective supply chains, including architects, contractors, designers etc. who purchase our products and services. Ted Dryer of Madorin/Snyder LLP will provide an overview of Bill 142, its changes, and what we in our industry need to be aware of regarding the new rules.

PLUS: As always, this is the only place our industry gets to network on a regular basis in southwestern Ontario. Bring your team, and come to connect with others in our industry to help you build your contacts, refresh existing ones, and learn something new to help your business!

Confirm now because space is limited!
