BWA Plant Tour Focus Groups focus on continuous improvement along with the reduction and elimination of waste in our manufacturing processes.

Focus Group Challenge: Facility layout strategy for product flow; Windmill Cabinets is looking at new placement locations for machinery and seeks input to evaluate strategic positioning of shop layout.
This company has been working closely with the principles of Lean Manufacturing and continues to implement it successfully at their facility.  They are also interested in feedback from BWA members to expose hidden opportunities on areas they can improve on at their facility – including increasing quantity of sheets cut per day.

Event Format: BWA Plant Tour Focus Groups are focused on continuous improvement and the reduction and elimination of waste in our manufacturing processes. Hosts provide an overview of their business, best practices, followed by the presentation of a challenge or problem to the group they are trying to solve or improve. This is followed by a tour and a focus on the area in question. The group then debriefs with a facilitated discussion on suggestions for the host to help solve their problem and reduce waste in their processes. Themes of Lean Manufacturing principles are referenced and benchmarked in informal discussion and information sharing.

Windmill Cabinet Shop. For over 40 years, Windmill Cabinet Shop’s quality and award-winning designs have impressed customers from South-Western Ontario and Michigan.
Their cabinetry designs are found in kitchens, bathrooms & vanities, closets, laundry rooms, wall units, games rooms, garages, and more.

Bring your people from your shop to see and experience common challenges and shared solutions. Best-practices for you in your own shop will emerge from participation from these BWA plant tour events!
