Support BWA – A request for your help!

The new government of Ontario needs to hear from you, the manufacturer/supplier to the industry as they work on their Forest Sector Strategy. Please take a few moments to submit your support. This consultation stage closes at 11:59 pm on February 5, 2020.

For a number of years, the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry (MNRF) supported the development of the BWA cluster to help the value-added wood products industry in southwestern Ontario. Clustering ecosystems help companies to innovate, grow, and improve to become competitive in domestic and export markets. The EU has been clustering for 30 years, and the BWA is the only industry managed cluster for our industry in Canada. BWA could not have grown to what it is today without MNRF support and needs the continued partnership with the government to continue to thrive and provide value to its members.

The new government in Ontario does not yet understand what clustering is and its value. Their draft strategy up for feedback has no reference to clustering or ecosystems to help small and medium-sized businesses like yours (SMEs). They need to hear from you, the manufacturer/supplier to the industry. This is a link to the draft strategy proposed by the new government of Ontario.
